About - My Blogs...
What's the Big Deal Anyway?
In 2005 I finally gave in to the hype and started blogging. I wasn't sure what it was all about. After all, I had my own web site since 1995. Why is posting content to the web all of a sudden 'a new concept' with an new name? I mean, if you want to get right down to it, I was Mo-Blogging during my trip to Germany in 1998 armed with a digital camera, HP Palmtop (w/PCMCIA Modem), and a UU/Net account with dial-up access points in Germany. I was uploading photos to my website while I was traveling in Germany daily. It was way cool. Now that can all be done with a camera equipped cell phone and a Blogger Account.
Web 2.0
Web 2.0 has allowed the creation of Online Blogging applications that simply make it easy to update content on the web. The "simplification" part of the process has opened up the web publishing arena topretty much anybody who can type, and that has had a big impact.
My Current Blogs:
- Things I've learned Coding CSS -- The bizarre quirks, tricks, and obstacles I've come across when trying to write cross browser compliant HTML and CSS. Maybe even some solutions.
- Marty's Bike Rides -- A journal of my bike rides.
- 2006 NJ Ride: High Point to Cape May -- My Mash-up. A journal of 3-Day, 250 mile bile ride I did with friends in 2006. Blog, Mo-Blog, Google Map, Flickr... all in one page.
Retired Blogs
The advent of FaceBook has essentially made the following blog obsolete:
- My Mo-Blog -- A blog where I upload random pictures I've taken with my Cell Phone. "Random pictures and thoughts from my daily life. Sometimes in the form of Haiku..." I strive to make it as pointless as possible ;-)
